Terms of Service
Last updated: October 15, 2026. These terms govern your use of this website and participation in our programs and services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using this website (grovelandlibraryfriends.org), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use this website. These Terms apply to all visitors, members, donors, volunteers, and program participants.
2. About the Organization
This website is operated by the Friends of the Groveland Public Library, Inc. ("Friends," "we," "us," or "our"), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our registered office is at 186 Main Street, Suite 4, Groveland, MA 01834. Our EIN is 04-3821947 and our Massachusetts Secretary of State registration number is 042897301.
3. Membership Terms
Membership in the Friends of the Groveland Public Library operates on a calendar-year basis from January 1 through December 31. Membership dues are non-refundable once processed but are fully tax-deductible as charitable contributions under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Membership benefits as described on our Membership page are subject to availability and may be modified with reasonable notice. The Friends reserve the right to update membership tier pricing and benefits with at least sixty days' notice before the start of the next calendar year.
4. Donations and Refund Policy
All donations to the Friends are voluntary, tax-deductible charitable contributions. Donations are generally non-refundable. In the event of a documented billing error or unauthorized charge, the Friends will work with the donor and our payment processor to resolve the issue within thirty days of notification. Donors designating a gift to a specific program should be aware that if the designated program is discontinued or fully funded, the Friends reserve the right to redirect the contribution to the area of greatest organizational need, unless the donor requests a refund in writing within sixty days of the original gift date.
5. Program Participation
All programs funded and operated by the Friends are offered free of charge and are open to the public. While we strive to accommodate all interested participants, some programs have capacity limitations for safety, quality, or space reasons. When capacity is limited, we employ a first-come, first-served registration model, with priority given to Friends members for select programs as described in our membership tier benefits.
Parents and legal guardians are responsible for the supervision and behavior of minor children participating in Friends programs. While our volunteer staff exercise reasonable care, the Friends are not a childcare provider, and parents of children under age eight must remain on the library premises during all program sessions.
6. Volunteer Service
Volunteers serve at the discretion of the Friends Board of Trustees and are not employees of the Friends or the Groveland Public Library. Volunteers do not receive compensation, benefits, or workers' compensation coverage. The Friends maintain general liability insurance that covers volunteer activities conducted within the scope of their assigned duties. The Friends reserve the right to reassign, modify, or terminate any volunteer placement at any time, with or without cause. Volunteers who work directly with minors must complete a CORI background check as described in our Volunteer Requirements policy.
7. Website Content and Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, images, graphics, logos, and the Friends of the Groveland Public Library name and mark, is the property of the Friends or is used with permission. You may view, download, and print pages from this website for personal, non-commercial use, provided you do not modify the content and you retain all copyright and proprietary notices. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this website for commercial purposes without prior written consent from the Friends.
8. Book Donation Policy
Books and other materials donated to the Friends for the annual book sale or general distribution become the property of the Friends upon donation. The Friends exercise sole discretion in determining how donated materials are used, including sale, distribution to partner organizations, or recycling of materials that do not meet our condition standards. Donated materials cannot be returned to the donor once accepted. Tax deduction receipts for book donations are available upon request; however, the Friends do not appraise the monetary value of donated items, and donors are responsible for determining the fair market value of their charitable contribution in accordance with IRS guidelines.
9. Limitation of Liability
This website and its content are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. The Friends do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Friends shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of this website or participation in any Friends program or event.

This website may contain links to third-party websites for informational purposes. The Friends do not endorse, control, or assume responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites. Accessing linked websites is at your own risk, and we encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any website you visit.
11. Code of Conduct
All participants in Friends programs, events, and volunteer activities are expected to behave in a respectful, courteous, and safe manner. Harassment, discrimination, or disruptive behavior of any kind will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the program or event and prohibition from future participation. The Friends are committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming environment for all community members regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, or socioeconomic status.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of laws provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Essex County, Massachusetts.
